The Killeen Street Child Care Centre is community based and managed by a voluntary committee of management consisting of parents, community members and staff members. The centre has been operational for more then 40 years and caters for 50 children

The centre is  a not for profit 50 place community based children’s centre with a Government funded kindergarten program. We care for children aged 3 months to 6 years. Opening hours are 7.00am to 6.00pm

The centre has been operational for over 40 years. It has two buildings the 0-3 building located at 23 Killeen Street Sunshine and the 3-5 room located at 26-30 Fairbairn Road Sunshine

Our Focus is on play and interest based learning that fosters each child’s individual development. We provide a positive environment that has beautiful large natural play spaces. We act as advocates for ensuring the rights of every child is respected.

Our Centre is an Approved Service under the National Quality Standards.
The centre was assessed in 2014 and was rated EXCEEDING

90% of the staff of Killeen Street Childcare Centre have been employed here for more than 14 years.

Finding a new education and care Service for your child can be a daunting task. At Killeen Street Child Care Centre our aim is to provide a secure and happy environment where children can develop their intellectual, social, emotional, physical, aesthetic skills to become competent and confident individuals. And for you as a parent/guardian, feel safe in the knowledge that your child is receiving the best possible care. All our staff have been long term employees.

We believe the best way to work with you and your child is by building a partnership of care. To do this we want you to feel:

• Welcomed, recognised, acknowledged and respected by all our Educators.
• That your child is really known by, and really knows, the people who care for him or her.
• You are given lots of information about what is occurring and are asked for your views.
• You are involved in making decisions about your child’s experiences.
• You and your child are received and greeted upon arrival.

• Your child is not just looked after but really cared for.

Child Care Subsidy – we offer 8,9 and 10 hour sessions

Some families are entitled to the Child Care Subsidy from the Commonwealth Government, The Child Care Subsidy will be paid directly to child care services to be passed on to families as a fee reduction. Families will make a co-contribution to their child care fees and pay to the child care service the difference between the fee charged and the subsidy amount. The amount that can be claimed is dependent on the family’s income and level of activity

Meals have been designed by a chef incorporating many different cultures.

We provide breakfast, morning tea, lunch afternoon tea and late snack. We have a 4 week rotating roster. We use produce from our garden in our meals.
