The Killeen Street Child Care Centre, Sunshine West is community based and managed by a voluntary committee of management consisting of parents, community members and staff members. The Service is open for 11 hours per day, 7am to 6pm 49 weeks per year and caters for children 3 months - 6 years.

Our service encourages parent, family and community involvement in all of our program and welcomes your feedback.
We are strongly connected to our community, we have strong links with local schools, maternal child health and Brimbank Council. We are culturally diverse and incorporate a range of cultural celebrations.

Our experienced and dedicated team is a cornerstone of our service, with more than half of our educators all long term employees. This continuity allows children and families to build strong, trusting relationships.
Partnerships with Families
We believe the best outcomes for children are achieved through strong partnerships with families.
We work closely with parents and guardians so that children feel happy, secure and genuinely cared for, and families feel confident and informed.
Fees and Child Care Subsidy
Eligible families may receive the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) from the Commonwealth Government, which is paid directly to the service and passed on as a fee reduction. parents apply for CCS through MYGOV.
Fees are set and reviewed in line with service policies and communicated clearly to families. Effective 1 January 2026:
- $156.00 per day
- $725.00 per week
Meals and Nutrition
We value fresh, wholesome food that children enjoy. Meals are prepared onsite using seasonal Australian ingredients, ensuring children receive balanced and nutritious meals each day.
As children grow, mealtimes provide opportunities for learning, independence and connection, helping to build healthy habits that support wellbeing now and into the future.
Our menus change with the seasons so children enjoy fresh, tasty ingredients and the best nutrition every day. Each day includes:
- A balanced breakfast
- Morning tea
- A nutritious lunch
- Afternoon tea and late snack
Arrival and Departure
In accordance with regulatory requirements, families are required to sign children in and out each day using the approved attendance system.
Children must be accompanied into and collected from the service by a parent, guardian or authorised nominee.
Children will only be released to persons authorised on the enrolment record, and identification may be requested where an educator is unfamiliar with the person collecting the child.
Educators must be informed of any changes to authorised nominees, routines, collection arrangements, or a child’s health or wellbeing.
Communication with Families
The service recognises that open and respectful communication with families is essential to achieving positive learning and wellbeing outcomes for children.
Information is shared through daily conversations, learning documentation, digital communication platforms, newsletters, notices and meetings. Families are encouraged to share information, provide feedback and participate in decision-making about their child’s education and care. The service values family input as part of ongoing evaluation and improvement.
Inclusion and Additional Needs
Killeen Street Child Care Centre is committed to inclusive practice and to providing equitable access to education and care for all children.
The service works collaboratively with families, support agencies and professionals to support children with additional needs, disabilities, developmental delays or medical requirements.
Where required, individual support plans are developed, implemented and reviewed to ensure children’s participation, wellbeing and learning are supported.
Transition to School
The service supports children and families through transitions, including entry into Kindergarten and the transition to school. Educators implement intentional transition practices that support children’s confidence, independence and sense of belonging.
The service works in partnership with families and local schools, and information is shared with consent to support continuity of learning and wellbeing.

The safety and wellbeing of children is paramount at Killeen Street Child Care Centre. Families are encouraged to raise any feedback, concerns or questions directly with the service.
