Our Commitment To Child Safety

Killeen Street Child Care Centre is committed to child safety.

Our number one priority is the safety, health and wellbeing of children in our care. We champion and model a child safe culture at all levels in our service.

We want children to be safe, happy and empowered.

We support and respect all children, as well as our staff and volunteers.

We are committed to the safety, participation and empowerment of all children.

We have zero tolerance of child abuse, and all allegations and safety concerns will be treated very seriously and consistently with our robust policies and procedures.

We have legal and moral obligations to contact authorities when we are worried about a child’s safety, which we follow rigorously.

Killeen Street Child Care Centre is committed to preventing child abuse and identifying risks early, and removing and reducing these risks.

We will not tolerate harm or the risk of harm to children or young people. We will not tolerate bullying or harassment. We act on any concerns about child safety and encourage a culture of reporting harm and risk of harm.

We listen to all children. We uphold their rights and empower them to know and exercise their rights. Children and families are involved in making decisions about matters that concern them. We are committed to equity and the inclusion of all children, regardless of their abilities, sex, gender, or social, economic or cultural background.

Killeen Street Child Care Centre is committed to regularly training and educating our stakeholders, staff and volunteers on child abuse risks.

We have an inclusive and welcoming environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, and respect and value their diverse and unique identities and experiences.
